The first draft is not complete, but the goal of 50k in 30 days is done.

My next goal is to finish the first draft by December 31, 2015 so that I can have the first 10 pages polished and ready to submit in January 2016.

But right now, it’s time to catch up on the November 30-Day Sketch-A-Day Challenge!

Day 28 Word Count NaNoWriMo 2015

Yesterday, I reported that I had caught up. But I had miscalculated by about 1k words. Today I am happy to report that I am really, really all caught up!

Today I added 3,688 words; Daily goal surpassed 🙂

Total words: 47,082 (par is 46,666)

2 days to go

Only need 2,918 to finish 50K by 30 Nov 2015.

Day 20 Word Count NaNoWriMo 2015

It’s been a week since I’ve updated my word count. The day job and other things have been keeping me distracted. I’m still more than 10K words behind, but I’m catching up. It won’t be long now. [If this sounds familiar, see previous post. But I really mean it this time.] 🙂

Today I wrote 3,973 words

Total words: 23,055

10 days to go.

Sunny beaches! Only 10 days left. I best get cracking – er, typing!

Day 13 Word Count NaNoWriMo 2015

It’s been a few days since I’ve updated my word count because I have not done any NaNo writing–zip, zero, nada. I’ve been blocked, baffled, bewildered, and befuddled. But that all ended today! I’m back in the saddle. I’ve haven’t caught up to the other NaNoWriMo riders yet, but I can see their dust trails ahead of me. It won’t be long now.

Today I wrote 2,126 words

Total words: 18,444

17 days to go.

Veteran’s Day Tribute: A Man Named Art

A special post for Veteran’s Day:

DMG Byrnes

Today, is Armistice Day, better known as Veteran’s Day; a day of honor, thanks, and remembrance of all of those who have served their country in times of War. Sadly, most people only think of veterans on this day, if ever at any other time when a reminder isn’t directly in front of them. (The history of this day can be found here on the Veteran Affairs official site.)

As much as I may be tempted to use this moment to recite the numerous disconcerting facts concerning veterans returning from combat and the mental health “treatment” they receive, how many dispossessed veterans make up the homeless population, or any other soapbox worthy spiel, that’s not what I want to post about today. Today,  I want to tell you about a man I met over seven years ago. A couple of years ago, I wrote the story of how I met…

Day 9 Word Count NaNoWriMo 2015

Today, I wrote 1,041 words. Daily goal unmet 😦

Total words: 16,306

21 days to go.

Argh! Life is getting in the way. I didn’t get home from the day job until almost 8 p.m. It’s now 9:30 and I still haven’t had dinner. Less than 2k words tonight. On the bright side, I’m still a little ahead  overall 🙂

Day 8 Word Count NaNoWriMo 2015

Today, I wrote 2,122 words. Daily goal surpassed 🙂

Total words: 15,273

22 days to go.

Not as many words as I had hoped, but I am still on target. I am further ahead than I have ever been in the six years I’ve been participating in this crazy challenge.

I did post four days worth of the November 30-Day Sketch-a-Day Challenge to my project page. I only have today’s to do and I’m caught up on that. Yeah 🙂

And I finally cleaned out the printer innards from the toner catastrophe from a couple of days ago; and installed 4 brand new brand-name cartridges. No more knock-offs for this girl. I learnt my lesson.
